Hi Vasant,

The answer will really depend on who you ask. Personally, I don't see any problem with mixing meditation methods. As far as the min-body benefits are concerned, it should be about the same no matter how you approach the meditation. On the other hand, if you are subscribing to a particular spiritual system that uses meditation in a specific way, then using techniques from different systems might end up confusing you.

First of all I'd like to thank you for posting such a wonderful and informative post. I have one question regarding meditation. I learnt transcendental meditation about a year ago, and I am onto it, and at the same time i am also practicing mindfulness meditation from Jon Kabat Zinn's audio, it is really a marvel. My querry is that is it ok to mix meditations like I am doin or must we stick to one meditation only.

regards
Vasant

Hi Anu,

Trying to remain mindful for a whole day is very ambitious! It is certainly possible, but would take a great deal of practice and self-control. The great thing about mindfulness is that you can practice it for however long you are able to tolerate each day and will be able to see a cumulative benefit over time. There is no need to feel frustrated if things get difficult--everyone struggles with this from time to time but if you keep at it you should start to see improvements. Good luck!

Hi David,

every time I get anxious I don't like the rumination of thoughts and whether I am ever going to feel ok again ( which I always do). I have tried mindful meditation, but I have also tried a full day with my usual activities and have gotten frustrated and tired of trying to be mindful the whole day. Should I continue with the daily mindfulness. Not sure how to handle this.
